Your 1st Flight on Caelune-1

Imagine you’re aboard one of the first CAELUNE-1s. You feel the ship rise vertically, almost like an impossibly powerful helicopter. Trees fall away beneath you. Ground becomes landscape, landscape becomes clouds, and then you feel the shift as the aft engines take over. Your body presses into the seat while the autonomous interface quietly reports:
TRAJECTORY NOMINAL.
VTOL CROSS-FEED ACTIVE.
ORBITAL INSERTION UNDERWAY.
Minutes later, Earth is below you.
CAELUNE is weightless now, rendezvousing with a massive orbital fuel depot. While the spacecraft refuels, your family eats, rests, moves around the cabin, and watches Earth drift past the windows. Meanwhile, the autonomous system interrogates thousands of sensors, comparing propulsion, structures, thermal protection, power, and life-support performance against baseline data before clearing the spacecraft for continued service.
Maybe you continue farther. Or maybe you dock with an orbital platform, joining other families and crews while humanity builds the infrastructure and technology for what comes next.
But imagine something goes wrong during ascent.
An engine begins behaving outside its expected parameters. Before the crew even understands what has changed, CAELUNE has detected it, isolated the problem, reconfigured available propulsion, protected its emergency reserve, and calculated the safest path home. Because the philosophy was never simply reach space.
It was:
Reach orbit. Preserve the way home. Refuel for everything beyond it.
That is the idea behind CAELUNE-1. Not making spaceflight disposable, but designing the spacecraft around a future where orbit itself becomes part of the journey.
